Sutekh the destroyer

This is probably going to be the last song of my set for next week... It's all JD and XV again. I took a sample from the doctor who episode Pyramids of Mars... SPOOOOOOKY! Anyway, it's weird and I like... and I hope you do too!

Pantastic

Okay, So I have 2 jams in this post. They're part of a set that I'm currently working on for a show on march 17 at Maria's community bar in bridgeport. This first track sort of continues the 80's movie soundtrack vibe of my last post, but much more subdued... possibly inspired by kenny g... I can neither confirm nor deny. The second track is a more beat driven jam with extreme pan flute via the JD800... I love that little guy. I originally saw it going more towards a Gary Newman kind of vibe, but after adding the super flutes, it turned into more of an Alphaville type jam.

Me an' muh Jay Dee!

So I had been struggling recently with a track for the record that my band is currently working on for a couple weeks, but I had finally finished it. I decided to blow off some steam by just trying out a little experiment with my Roland JD800. I've owned it for about six months now, but I haven't really had a chance to mess around with it at all. I started fucking around with the MASSIVE PAD preset and just let the rest of the song sort of snowball itself into existence. I think it has a Jean Michel Jarre/David Lynch soundtrack vibe to the opening, but then it kind of turns into Paul McCartney ala Secret Friend... I don't know, you judge for yourself.
I think it's goooooood.... listen and enjoy

Alrighty, here's the next installment...
I made this techno set about a year and a half ago using only 909, RZ1, and samples from this weird blog that I found... I'll post in the near future about it, but for now I'll move on... Recently I purchased a Roland VS-1880 digital recorder, and got the recording bug soon there after. I decided to revisit the set to see if anything was worth recording. I found some samples that I still liked and used my Roland XV-5080 to do all the synth work and some of the drums... they're pretty evenly broken up, drum wise, between the XV and my MPC 1000. Anyway, here's a short hot mix for ya'll... ENJOY!

Okay, So I decided to put this track up mainly as a way for me to see if I was smart enough to use sound cloud. But I'm also pretty proud of this recording too... It's a recording of my old punk band named Sig Transit Gloria. We played a lot and released two records in the earlier part of the last decade, but we were never really happy with any of the recordings we made... Whatever, we weren't even old enough to drink at the time! What the hell did we know about making a record?

Anyway, after almost a full decade we reunited to work on the record that we always wanted... and I think we came pretty close... It's not mixed, but the songs are all there..... Enjoy!

P.S. Now that I know what the hell I'm doing, more post's are immanent!

WHY?

So I've decided to take the plunge and start a blog. I've found so much good shit through blogs, I figured, "why not?" I don't have any rare records or anything, but I have a shit ton of music that I've written and recorded, and no one's ever heard it..... until now!!!
So here's my first entry. I've been a fan of Doctor Who for about 2 and a half years now. I just can't get enough of it. I personally think Patrick Troughton is my favorite doctor, but I first fell in love with DW when I saw Cave of Androzani. Peter Davison is awesome and the villains, Morgus and Share Jek, are super evil. Probably one of the most dystopian themed DW's I've ever seen. Everyone dies, no one wins.... GENIUS! Anyway, The point of this is I love Doctor Who, I'm a dork.... there I said it.....
SO to kick it off, here's a cover of the Tom Baker/Peter Davison theme that I recorded about a year ago.
